Better Hearings - East Renfrewshire Champions Board
Better Hearings

East Renfrewshire Better Hearings partners are committed to making attending a Children’s Hearing a more positive experience for children and young people, where they feel they are the most important person in the room, can take part, feel they are being listened to and where they feel safe and comfortable.

SCRA nationally is working with partners within the Children’s Hearings Improvement Partnership (CHIP) to deliver the ‘Better Hearings’ agenda, resulting in a report called ‘The Next Steps Towards Better Hearings’.

Within East Renfrewshire, partners such as SCRA, Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS), East Renfrewshire Council and Who Cares? Scotland are working together to deliver a local Better Hearings plan. We have consulted with local care experienced young people to include their views in our plan.

The 4 key areas we are working together on are:

  1. Improving the quality of information provided for Children’s Hearings
  2. Ensuring that children and young people will be able to give their views before, during and after hearings.
  3. Improving the experience of children and young people attending Hearings
  4. Reducing the delay in the Hearing process.

This plan will be reviewed and refreshed in April 2020, at the end of year 1

We will continue to consult our young people during the delivery of this plan.
