Since 2004 East Renfrewshire Council and Glasgow City Council have been working together to develop and manage Dams to Darnley Country Park. The park sits between Barrhead, Darnley and Newton Mearns and is made up of woodland, grassland, open water, wet land and farm land. The park ranger service run events and volunteering activities throughout the year. The Dams to Darnley ranger service have released and event guide for 2022.
Moon on the Water – Summer Solstice Stroll
Tuesday 21st June 9 – 11pm
Join us on a hearty walk through the Country Park to Waulkmill Glen Reservoir to see the sunset, and the moon rise on the water (clouds permitting!).
Saturday 23rd July 1 – 3pm
Bring the kids to do a nature scavenger hunt, create a nature pallet and try ‘hapa zome’ or ‘leaf-dying’.

The always popular spoon carving workshop is back! Over 2 days and covering all aspects of carving a spoon/wand.

Learn about the ecology of these brilliant night fliers, and the game of cat and mouse that goes on between them and their prey.

Monday 31st October 6 – 8pm
Dress up the little ones to go on a walk into the dark woods to hear some seriously creepy tales before returning to take part in some Halloween games
Saturday 12th November 1 – 3pm
Join in as we explore the woods looking for these weird and wonderful organisms that can provide food, while others can be deadly, but all of which carry out vital ecological services
